10 outdoor activities to do for spring

1.) Go on a walk:

    Easter is set on april 16th this year, a beautiful spring day. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. Why not spend the holiday getting some good exercise? There are tons of paths around Benicia to explore.

2.) Plant some flowers

    Although prime planting season has passed, some flowers such as Alstroemeria (Peruvian lily), Aster and Coreopsis ‘Mango Punch’ to name a few.

3.) Go on a bike ride
    The sun is shining and this is another great way to exercise. The state rec area has a few bike trails worth checking out.

4.) Fly a Kite

    Running around in the park is a great way to spend a sunny day. Benicia has tons of locations you could fly a kite, such as 9th street park, community park, and even jack london park.

5.) Go to a dog park

    If you have a furry friend why not take them on an adventure to the Benicia dog park? It’s fun for your dog and you to meet some new people.

6.) Organize a scavenger hunt with your friends.

    It’s a fun activity that would take you on a quest around town and give you a chance to learn the interesting history of Benicia

7.) Enjoy a picnic with you family.

    Everyone can contribute to the big meal, and you could even hold on somewhere fun like the Benicia green.

8.) Go to the Beach

     The forecast is calling for mid 70’s degree weather, a great time to go to the water.

9.) Visit the zoo

    It’s a nostalgic activity that is fun to do. You can see the animals enjoying the wonderful spring sunshine. Some bay area zoos include, the Oakland zoo, and the San Francisco zoo.

10.) Go to the local farmers market

    The Benicia Farmers market is on every Thursday. Go purchase some fresh fruits and veggies, all while supporting local businesses.
