The Benicia High golf team has improved throughout the season, and their performance at the Transbay Tournament at Rossmoor Country Club supports the case. The golfers shot a team score of 417, good enough for 4th place in the tournament.
Benicia was led by senior Zack McClure, who shot the 2nd best score of the tournament with a 74. Fellow seniors Evan Cuenco and Nick Flores shot an 80 and 81, respectively. Juniors Dustin Sparks and Dylan Fergerstrom scored an 86 and 96.
“I played well today for the conditions, it was a great moment to share with Mrs. Prolo and the rest of the guys,” said McClure. “I’m confident the team will have success deep into the season and into the playoffs.”
Evan Cuenco also had high praise for his team. “4th place is great for a tournament with a lot of solid teams,” explained Cuenco.
The Panthers will start the second half of their season after spring break with league matches. Their next tournament is on May 3rd at Rancho Solano for the SCAC League Championship.
